Bhubaneswar: Odisha registered 9,541 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally in the state to 7,56,684. The active caseload in the state now stands at 95,266. Out of the 9,541 new infections, 5,343 were reported from quarantine centres while 4,198 persons contracted the virus locally.
Odisha reported 33 fresh fatalities taking the total tally in the state to 2,719 as per a tweet of Health and Family Welfare department. Angul alone reported the highest deaths (five); followed by Boudh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur and Sundargarh districts (three each); Cuttack, Deogarh, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Keonjhar and Khurda (including one from Bhubaneswar) districts (two each); Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada districts (one each).
Khurda district registered the highest number of new Covid-19 cases with 1,342 persons testing positive for the disease. It was followed by Cuttack with 716 new infections.

Other districts that reported new Covid-19 cases are: Mayurbhanj (695), Sundargarh (595), Angul (562), Puri (528), Jajpur (489), Bhadrak (464), Kalahandi (315), Balasore (302), Jagatsinghpur (299), Bargarh (284), Nabarangpur (254), Subarnapur (245), Nayagarh (230), Sambalpur (229), Koraput (215), Boudh and Keonjhar (177 each), Rayagada (164), Ganjam (150), Jharsuguda (140), Malkangiri (123), Dhenkanal (117), Kendrapara (114), Kandhamal (107), Bolangir (101), Gajapati (69), Deogarh (61) and Nuapada (50).
The State Pool reported 227 new cases in the last 24 hours. These are persons who have come from outside Odisha and have tested positive.
A total of 1,17,11,459 swab samples have been cumulatively tested so far. The number of new recoveries stands at 11,513.
