Bhubaneswar: Pranaya Maharathy breathed his last Sunday morning owing to Covid-19 related complications at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar at the age of 64 years, family sources informed.
Pranaya was the younger brother of former BJD minister and MLA of Pipili Assembly constituency late Pradeep Kumar Maharathy. Pranaya had tested positive for the deadly virus a few days ago. Subsequently, he was admitted to a Covid care facility after his health condition deteriorated. He succumbed while undergoing treatment here.

Notably, the senior Biju Janata Dal leader Pradeep Maharathy had earlier died owing to Covid-19 related complications while undergoing treatment at a private Covid care facility October 4, 2020.
The veteran BJD leader was 65 years of age when he had died.
