Keonjhar: Even as the early summer has worsened water crisis in most parts of Bansapal block in this district, tribal people of Radhuan have been staging a protest placing their pitchers and utensils on Thakurdihi-Gonasika road for last two days.
The residents alleged the administration has not taken any steps to sort out drinking water crisis in the area.
Vehicular movement on the route has remained disrupted Saturday and Sunday.
However, the administrative officials were yet to turn up to the agitation site to take note of their plight till this report was filed. This had led to discontent among the people.
The agitators said they had taken up the matter with the block and district administration several times, but to no avail. “We had no way out, but to block the road to the draw attention of the authorities,” said the villagers.
Tube wells in the village have been lying defunct, while people have to struggle for a drop of water. The problem will worsen further in the days to come, they rued.
“The government is providing piped drinking water in other villages, but this is not the case in our village,” they bemoaned.
The villagers warned of intensifying their agitation if their demand was not met. PNN
