Gunupur: Gunupur police in Rayagada district busted a bike lifting gang and recovered 10 bikes from their possession, a police source said Thursday.
The police arrested four members of the gang late Wednesday night. The arrested men have been identified as Bidyadahar Dhoba, Devendra Goudali, Dipu Sabar and Chitanag Bansh. Police are yet to give any other details about the gang members such as their localities and past crime records.
Bike lifting cases were being reported at the locality here at regular intervals for the past few days. Acting on a tip-off, Gunupur police led by sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Ajay Kumar Barik conducted raids Wednesday night at a place and arrested the four. As many as ten bikes were recovered from their possession.
According to SDPO Barik, the bikes will be handed over to their owners in a day or two. Police investigation is on to find out if there are some others involved in the gang.
