Puri, April 7: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has pegged the cost of renovating Srimandir Jagmohan at Rs 2, 14, 32, 000.
Sources said the estimation for Jagmohan renovation will be sent to the director general of ASI for the approval after a Srimandir technical committee meeting scheduled for April 8 in Bhubaneswar. “As per our estimation Rs 2, 14, 32,000 will be spent for the repair of Srimandir Jagmohan,” Srimandir superintending engineer Bindheswar Patra said.
ASI authorities have decided to install stainless steel pillars and beams at Jagmohan to firm up the dilapidated structure. “At least 64 tonne stainless steel will be required for the renovation of the old structure. The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has no stock of stainless steel. We have to procure steel from private companies with an expenditure of Rs 1.28 crore,” Patra said. According to sources, stainless steel bars will be stored at Koili Baikuntha on the temple premises.
The Shree Jagannath temple administration (SJTA), meanwhile, has decided to replace the old wooden doors at the four temple gates. According to sources, the SJTA has procured 353 sal logs at an expenditure of Rs 4 lakh for preparation of the doors. “Ten carpenters from Delang area will start making the doors April 11. They will cover the wooden doors with brass. The whole process will be completed within two months and doors will be installed before the coming Rath Yatra,” Patra said.
The SJTA earlier had renovated doors at the Jay-Bijay and Kalahaat gates on the temple premises.
