Patrapur: The district administration dismissed a headmaster from service after he was allegedly found to have submitted forged caste and residence certificates in order to secure the job Wednesday.
The dismissed headmaster was identified as Rushi Bhuyan of Kutambari Vidyalaya in Samantarapur panchayat under Patrapur block in Ganjam district. He was removed after district collector Prem Chandra Choudhury verified the probe reports submitted against Bhuyan and ordered the block education officer Abhimanyu Behera to proceed with the termination of Bhuyan’s service.
Sources said Bhuyan, a native of Dalei Sahi village under Kanchili Mandal Jalantar panchayat of Srikakulam district in Andhra Pradesh, managed to get a nativity certificate and caste certificate from the tehsil office claiming to be a permanent resident of Gouduni village under Tumba panchayat in the block December 18, 2006.
Later, on the basis of these two certificates, he joined as an assistant teacher in Kutambari Vidyalaya under Berhampur education district.
The fraud came to light after a rights activist sought details about Bhuyan under the Right to Information Act (RTI). The activist on coming to know about the fraud met the collector, revenue divisional commissioner (south), and police officials demanding action against Bhuyan. The activist met the collector at a public grievance meet and lodged a complaint following which Choudhury ordered the tehsildar to conduct a probe.
Bhuyan was found to have manipulated information during the probe and was summoned for a deposition at the tehsildar’s office where his two certificates were scrapped. The district collector issued him a show-cause notice and summoned him for a personal appearance where the former ordered for his dismissal from service. PNN
