Paralakhemundi: Gajapati district administration will continue developmental projects in villages along Andhra-Odisha border. A number of projects taken up earlier would be completed soon, additional district Magistrate Sangram Sekhar Panda said at a presser Saturday.
According to Panda, Rs 9.65 crore was previously sanctioned for a new road along the border, work of which has already started. Rs 17 lakh was also sanctioned for a drinking water project to cater to the needs of Gangabada and Manikapatana villagers in the district.
In addition, solar lights have been installed at a cost of Rs 8 lakh. Construction of a cyclone shelter is also underway. Moreover, the district administration has taken up construction of Champapur-Gangabada village road at a cost of Rs 5.4 crore, the official said.

A number of livelihood projects were taken up under Integrated Tribal Development Authority (ITDA) for tribal residents of the bordering villages. As many as 30 families have been provided with financial assistance for goat rearing and 100 families funded for broiler poultry farming.
Three self help groups (SHGs) were provided technical and financial support, who took up ornamental fish farming. Gajapati administration will soon create a platform for residents of the bordering villages for marketing of agricultural and forest products, the ADM informed.
