Angul: Lifeline Express (a hospital in train) arrived at Angul railway station Sunday morning. This is said to be the first-of-its-kind train that has modern healthcare infrastructure inside.
The train will halt here for the next 15 days and provide free medical consultation, treatment as well as medicines to patients. It is equipped with ultra-modern machines. Besides, specialists available on the train can even conduct surgical operations, if needed, a source said.
The hospital in train has two bogeys with operation theatres. Lifeline Express is managed by a charitable organisation named Impact India Foundation and funded by corporate houses from CSR funds.

The non-government organisation provides free healthcare services to people across the country with the support of the Central and state governments, a spokesperson for the organisation Rohini V Chogulu said.
Three ambulance vehicles have been kept in the train for convenient transportation of patients. “The Lifeline Express is the first-of-its-kind hospital in train in the world,” manager Vivek Das informed.
