IMD issues Orange Warning for these Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: Regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar Friday issued Orange and Yellow Warnings for several districts of Odisha where heavy rains are expected.

A low-pressure area is likely to form over Northwest & adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal around August 7, 2022, IMD said. Several districts of the state are expected to experience heavy to very heavy rains in view of this.

Weather predictions and advisories:

Yellow Warning Day-1 (valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 06.08.2022)

Yellow Warning (Be updated): Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapara and Bhadrak.

Yellow Warning Day- 2 (valid from0830 hrs IST of 06.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2022)

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Bargarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara.

DAY-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 07.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 08.08.2022)

Orange Warning(Be Prepared)

  1. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Puri.

Impact :

Possibility of temporarily water logging in low-lying areas and landslides/mudslides in vulnerable hilly areas.

Yellow Warning( Be Updated)

  1. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Khordha, and Jagatsinghpur.

Day 4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 08.08.2022 up to 0830 hrs IST of 09.08.2022)

Orange Warning(Be Prepared)

1 Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack with extremely heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur.

Impact & actions suggested :

  1. i) It may trigger landslides/mudslides invulnerable hilly areas
  2. ii) Temporarily water logging in low-lying areas, occasional reduction of visibility causing traffic congestion in urban areas and some damages to Kutcha roads and vulnerable Kutcha houses.

iii) Keep arrangements for drainage of excess water.

Yellow Warning( Be updated)

  1. Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Boudh, Balangir, Sonepur, Bargarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak.
