Bhubaneswar, Sept 19: The state government Monday sounded alert in the wake of the terrorist attack on an army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir in which 17 soldiers were killed.
“Though there is no specific intelligence input for the state, we do not want to take any chance. Security has been tightened at airport, bus stands, railway stations and vital installations in the coastal region,” DGP K B Singh told reporters here.
Special security arrangements had been made for army bases in the state, police armouries, Srimandir in Puri, Paradip port, Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Lingaraj temple in Bhubaneswar, State Assembly, Secretariat, Bhubaneswar railway station and Biju Patnaik International Airport here, he added.
This apart, strict vigil was being maintained at crowded places, said the DGP, adding the district and police administration had been put on alert in the coastal districts of Puri, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Khurda and Balasore.
Twin city police commissioner Y B Khurania said they were prepared to tackle any untoward incident in the capital city and Cuttack. Special Tactical Unit and SOG jawans were in readiness to deal with any possible incident, he maintained.
