Mathili: In a remote area of Malkangiri district, four villages have been left ignored and devoid of basic amenities. Residents in Tulasi, Kerameti, Charaktala, and Mureibeda villages situated in the valleys of Mathili region have been struggling to avail of basic necessities.
The villagers are forced to climb up to 13 kilometre in the hilly region to get free rations and pensions. Lack of healthcare facilities and drinking water has only added to their woes.
According to sources, these villages were once ruled by Maoists, but now that the BSF camp at Temurupali has been established, the villagers had hoped for better facilities. However, their dreams remain unfulfilled.
Each of the four villages has a school, but education system is struggling due to language barrier. The teachers only speak Odia, which the local students do not understand. The schoolchildren only understand their native Durua and Koya languages. This has led to a breakdown in the education system.
The villagers have demanded that the district administration take notice of their situation and make efforts to solve their problems.
It is high time that people in these villages get basic amenities and infrastructure that they deserve to live a dignified life.
