Sambalpur: A man was found dead Saturday with cut marks on his throat near Kharla Bypass Bridge in Kuchinda area of Sambalpur district, a source said.
The victim was identified as Prithviraj Mahananda (38), who was working as a teacher at Mantrimunda Primary School. He used to reside in ward number VI of Kuchinda NAC.
According to the source, some passers-by spotted the body lying in a pool of blood near the bypass bridge Saturday morning. They immediately informed Kuchinda police.
Police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of murder, a policeman said. The cops have launched a probe to ascertain the reason behind the suspected murder.
As per preliminary reports, Prithviraj went out of his home Friday afternoon on a scooter. He had told one of his family members about his late return at night.
One of the locals saw him sitting near a lassi shop Friday, the source added.
