Bhubaneswar: Maximum temperature (day temperature) is very likely to rise by 3-5 degree Celsius at many places in Odisha over next two days and no large change thereafter, the regional centre of IMD in Bhubaneswar said Sunday.
Upto 8.30 AM of May 15: The weather agency predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorm is very likely to occur at one or two places over Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Ganjam districts. Dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of the state, the IMD bulletin stated.
From 8.30 AM of May 15 to 8.30 AM of May 16: IMD issued a Yellow Warning (be updated) for heatwave conditions. As per the Yellow Warning, heatwave is very likely to prevail at a few places over Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur and Sonepur districts.
Impact and action suggested:
1) Heat is tolerable for general public but health concern for vulnerable people (eg: infants, elderly and sick people
2) It is advised to avoid heat exposure, keep cool and avoid dehydration.
3) Farmers are advised to continue irrigation activities in sugarcane, summer maize, pulses and other crop and vegetables.
In the same timeframe, dry weather is very likely to prevail over the remaining districts of Odisha.
In Bhubaneswar, for the next 24 hours, a partly cloudy sky is predicted by IMD. Maximum and minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 39 degree Celsius and 26 degree Celsius respectively.
In the last 24 hours, the highest maximum temperature of 41.5 degree Celsius was recorded at Sundargarh and the lowest minimum temperature of 22.2 degree Celsius was recorded at Bhawanipatna, the bulletin informed.
