Balasore: A Vigilance court here Tuesday sentenced four teachers to four years of imprisonment after convicting them for submission of fake educational certificates in connection with their appointment. The convicted teachers were identified as Daitari Nayak, an assistant teacher of Mahishapata UGME School under Nilagiri police limits; Narahari Nayak, a teacher of Jharanaghati Primary School; Debendra Kumar Mohapatra, a former teacher of Tentulia UGME School and currently posted at Kalyani Primary School at Mitrapur; and Dhirendra Nayak, a retired teacher of Pithahat Nodal School. Three of the convicted teachers have been sacked from service while the court has directed to stop pension payment to the convicted retired teacher. The court sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and a fine of Rs 10,000 each and in default of payment of the fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and a fine of Rs 20,000 each and in default of payment of penalty, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 months each for the offence U/s 471 IPC.
The court further sentenced Daitari Nayak and Debendra Kumar Mohapatra to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine of Rs 20,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months each for the offence U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) P.C Act. All the sentences are to run concurrently.
All the convicts were forwarded to jail custody Tuesday. Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of Dhirendra Nayak, and the dismissal of Daitari Nayak, Narahari Nayak, and Debendra Kumar Mohapatra, from service following their conviction. Gangulal Behera, exInspector, Vigilance, Balasore Division had investigated the case and SK Ray, Special Public Prosecutor, Vigilance, Balasore conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
