Bhubaneswar: As dengue cases continue to surge in Bhubaneswar, three locations in the city have been identified as hotspots for the vector-borne disease, a source said Sunday. The three locations are: Old Town, Salia Sahi, and IRC Village.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das said that fogging activities have been intensified to counter the rise in dengue cases.
Das further added that some hotspots have been identified and appropriate measures are being taken to identify and destroy breeding sources.
It can be mentioned here that the Odisha government reportedly issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the affected districts.
Meanwhile, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra Saturday informed that 175 dengue-positive cases have been reported from 18 districts of Odisha till July 1.
Mishra stated that Khurda district including Bhubaneswar has reported 93 cases out of a total 175. This is the highest among all districts. Over 80 cases alone are reported from Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) limits, he added.
Mishra said that instructions were given to hospitals to keep adequate medicines, platelet stocks and beds to tackle the dengue outbreak.
