Mumbai: Khiladi of Hindi film industry, Akshay Kumar, turned 56 today. Birthday boy Akshay Kumar was born and brought up in Chandni Chowk, Delhi.
Akshay is married to actress Twinkle Khanna, daughter of superstar Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia.

In an interview, birthday boy Akshay Kumar revealed that he met Twinkle during a photo shoot for Filmfare. Both of them fell in love during the shooting of the 1999 film International Khiladi. In an interview, Twinkle said that she was just out of a long-term relationship before dating Akshay.
Twinkle said that at that time, Akshay was on a 15-day schedule shooting outdoors for a film in Calgary. Her books were all read, and there was no TV, so she decided to enjoy herself with Akshay. By the time the outdoor shooting was over, they had fallen in love with each other. You will be surprised to know that Twinkle got engaged to Akshay twice.
When Akshay proposed to Twinkle for marriage, Twinkle’s film Mela was about to be released. Twinkle was confident that the film would succeed. Twinkle told Akshay that she would marry him if the film flopped. The film flopped, and she said yes to Akshay. But Twinkle’s mother, Dimple, was told by a journalist friend that Akshay was gay, making her apprehensive about her daughter marrying him.
She placed a condition in front of Akshay that they would have to live together for a year before marrying. And so Twinkle and Akshay stayed together for a year. In that one year, Twinkle checked bit-by-bit records of Akshay’s family and also made a list of the advantages and disadvantages of marrying him.
In an interview, Twinkle also said that Karan Johar and she used to study at the same college. In those days, Karan fell in love with Twinkle. Later, he revealed that Twinkle was the only girl he had been madly in love with.
It is worth mentioning that Tina’s role in Karan Johar’s superhit film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was first offered to Twinkle, but she rejected it.
