Bhubaneswar: A lady singer Thursday lodged a complaint at Mahila police station alleging music director Priyabrata Dasmahapatra has cheated her on the pretext of marriage.
According to the complainant, the accused had promised to marry her but later he refused to do so. She also alleged that Priyabrata used to chat with her over WhatsApp and send her objectionable messages.
“He proposed me and wanted to have a date with me at some place. When I went there he forced upon me and kept physical relationship with me. Though he promised to marry me after the incident, later he went back on his words. When I asked him for marriage, he said he belongs to upper cast and it is not possible on his part to marry to a lower caste girl. He also threatened me of dire consequences,” said the victim.
The accused music director has refuted all allegations levelled by the young singer. “I have never promised her of marriage. I’m already married. She is demanding money from me and trying to blackmail me with these allegations,” said Priyabrata.
However, police have registered a case in this regard.
“We have received the complaint and registered a case under appropriate sections. We are investigating the matter,” Bhubaneswar deputy commissioner of police, Satyabrata Bhoi.
Earlier, Sharmistha, an actress in Oriya film industry, had also alleged that producer Bini samal and directors Nihar Samal, Chandi Parija asked her for sexual favours to get roles in the films and serials. Comedian Papu Pom Pom was also accused of demanding sexual favours from budding actresses to provide opportunities to them in the films and serials.
