Bhubaneswar: The state government Monday decided to establish a police outpost at Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar Bus Terminal, Baramunda which will be inaugurated in a few days. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Monday said that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has already approved a proposal in this regard. As many as 89 police personnel will be engaged in the outpost. There will be two sub-inspectors, nine assistant sub-inspectors, four havildars, 72 constables, and two drivers. The bus terminal is in the last stage of completion.
Modern facilities like restaurants, pick-up and drop-off points, shops and bazaars, toilets and bathrooms have been established keeping in view the huge footfall of passengers in coming days. As many as 144 bus bays have been constructed at the bus stand. The facility is now hosting about 800 buses which is expected to cross 1,800 in the coming days.
Earlier, CM Naveen Patnaik announced that the Baramunda Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Bhubaneswar will be named after Dr BR Ambedkar, a jurist, social reformer, economist and one of the architects of the Indian Constitution. The ISBT Baramunda project, which is being implemented by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) on 15.5 acre land, will have facilities for the convenience of passengers, office spaces, parking lots, a food court, restaurant, and commercial space.
