Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: The state government has decided to set up a ropeway, improve the lighting facility and set up a market complex at Dhauli to attract more tourists to the Buddhist shrine.
A high-level meeting under the chairmanship of tourism and culture minister Ashok Chandra Panda here Saturday decided to abolish all the check-gates put up by the state bridge and construction corporation on the way to Dhauli.
The government has also decided to ban the entry of heavy vehicles into the hill, with buses and other heavy vehicles having to park at the foot of the hill, Panda said.
The tourism minister also stressed on the need to acquire more land for further developmental work at Dhauli.
The meeting was attended by tourism secretary Arvind Padhee, Khurda collector Niranjan Sahu, works secretary Nalini Pradhan, deputy police commissioner Satyabrata Bhoi and tourism deputy secretary Manoranjan Lodha.
