Mayurbhanj: Excise Department officials in Mayurbhanj district’s Morada block have destroyed 10,300 litres of fermented mahua liquor and seized an additional 900 litres during operations targeting local liquor shops, officials said Friday.
Range Inspector Swapanarani Sahu, Morada Excise Inspector Deepak Kumar Raut and their teams conducted raids at Talashi of Valukachia village. At one shop, officers seized 360 litres of mahua liquor and destroyed another 4,500 litres. At another, 320 litres were seized and 3,300 litres destroyed.
The team also confiscated various equipment used for making illicit liquor. In a separate operation in the same village, 2,500 litres of fermented mahua liquor were destroyed, and 220 litres were seized.
Two cases were registered in this connection at the local excise station.
