3-year-old dies, brother critical after eating fish curry in Bhadrak district

Basudevpur: A 3-year-old boy died and his twin brother was hospitalised in critical condition after allegedly consuming fish curry in Natapada village of Barandua panchayat under Basudevpur block of Bhadrak district, a source said Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Sujit Bandh. His brother, Ajit, also 3-year-old, is undergoing treatment at Basudevpur Community Health Centre, the sources said.

According to their mother, Kanakalata Bandh, fish was purchased from a fish vendor Wednesday afternoon and later cooked for dinner. Both children reportedly fell ill soon after eating the curry that evening.

The siblings were rushed to Basudevpur Community Health Centre, where doctors declared Sujit dead.
