Bhubaneswar: Several Ambedkarite groups Monday filed a complaint at the city’s Capital police station against YouTuber Tapi Mishra for allegedly making derogatory remarks against BR Ambedkar on social media.
According to the complainants, a Facebook user named Tapi Mishra has been repeatedly sharing posts that insult and demean Dr Ambedkar.
The complaint further stated that an earlier case had been registered at the Capital police station in December 2025 over objectionable remarks targeting the slogan ‘Jai Bhim’.

Despite this, Tapi allegedly shared another Facebook post on January 18, 2026, displaying Ambedkar’s photograph along with a caption containing derogatory language and mockery of both Dr Ambedkar and the SC/ST Act, the complaint informed.
The complainants alleged that Dr Ambedkar, a highly respected figure among the SC/ ST community, was deliberately insulted through written and visual content, amounting to an offence under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
They urged the police to take strict legal action to prevent further misuse of social media platforms to hurt community sentiments.
