Keonjhar: Tension prevailed on the premises of the district headquarters hospital here Wednesday after a woman patient died due alleged medical negligence.
Relatives of the patient Sushama Naik (25) of Gouratoga Sahi here alleged she died as blood could not be made available to her.
According to reports, Sushama was suffering from septicaemia and regularly receiving blood transfusion.
She was down with fever Tuesday and her family admitted her to the hospital the same day. It was alleged blood was not made available to the patient immediately. At night, when her condition grew critical, the doctor on duty recommend for immediate blood transfusion, but it could not be done as the blood grouping report was available by then.
Sushama died at 6.30 am Wednesday. Her family member alleged medical negligence and refused to take her body from the hospital.
Sushama’s brother Ganesh Naik, lodged a complaint in this regard at the local police station.
Later, the hospital authorities and the police held talks with the family and convinced the latter to take away the body.
However, hospital authorities denied any kind of negligence in this case. PNN
