Purushottampur: The annual ‘Chaitra Mangalabara’ festival of Maa Tara Tarini, the presiding deity of Ganjam district, concluded Tuesday peacefully, drawing thousands of devotees from across the region. On the final day, the twin goddesses were adorned in the Basanti Durga attire, offering a special darshan that left devotees deeply emotional. Many offered prayers and vowed to return next year after seeking blessings on the auspicious occasion. Temple rituals began early, with doors opening at around 2.30am, followed by traditional ceremonies including mangal aarti, abhishek and other rites.
By 4:30am, the deities were presented for public viewing. Tonsuring rituals also commenced early, with devotees fulfilling vows for themselves and their children. Pilgrims reached the hilltop shrine either by climbing the 999 steps or using buses and ropeway services. Elaborate arrangements were made to ensure smooth conduct of the festival. Local officials and police authorities supervised the event, while volunteers and temple servitors assisted in managing the large turnout. The successful conclusion of the yatra was widely appreciated by devotees and authorities alike.
