Bhubaneswar: Employment is not the end of learning, but the beginning of a new chapter, Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said while distributing appointment letters to more than 400 students during the ‘Campus to Career’ programme organised at Government Polytechnic, Bhubaneswar.
After completing training in various trades, the students secured placement opportunities through campus recruitment in more than 32 reputed companies, including Tata Power, JSW, Paytm, Yazaki and MedPlus.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Swain said the success of the students reflected the true picture of skill development in the state.
He emphasised that skill development is not just about becoming employable, but about establishing oneself in a competitive market.
Alongside the distribution of appointment letters, the minister also inaugurated the ‘Waste to Wealth’ Skill Park on the campus.
The park has been created using waste materials, scrap and broken machinery parts from various training units and laboratories of the institute.
Minister Swain praised the innovative initiative, saying the park would play an important role in promoting environmental protection and advancing ‘Green Skills’.
On the occasion, the minister released a book, Nari Vandana: Empowering Narishakti, published by the institute.
The book chronicles the success stories of 168 female students of Government Polytechnic, Bhubaneswar, who completed their training and secured placements under the ‘Sudakshya’ scheme.
The minister congratulated the successful girl students and urged others to take full advantage of the scheme.
Skill Development and Technical Education department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Bhupendra Singh Poonia, State Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training Secretary Swapna Kumar Mishra and Principal Rajat Panigrahi were present.
