Bhubaneswar: Two persons were killed and two others seriously injured after a goods truck rammed into a stationary truck in Odisha’s Kataka district Monday, police said.
The driver of the goods truck allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit a truck parked along the roadside from behind on the Kataka-Chandbali highway, they said.
The impact of the collision severely damaged the front portion of the goods truck, trapping four occupants inside.
Police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the occupants using a gas cutter.
Two of them were taken to Nischintakoili hospital, where doctors declared them dead, while the other two were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment, police said.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and an investigation has been initiated.
