Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to receive heavy rainfall from Tuesday as a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal is expected to strengthen and intensify into a deep depression in the coming days, the Regional Centre of the India Meteorological Department said Monday.
The weather system has formed over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining areas and is likely to move toward the central Bay of Bengal, the weather office added. The system is expected to intensify into a depression Monday. However, the Department has not issued any forecast for the formation of a cyclone over the Bay of Bengal at present.
The system is likely to strengthen further into a deep depression over the west-central Bay of Bengal by Tuesday.
By the morning of September 23, the deep depression is expected to move close to the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha coasts, according to the weather office.
