Puri: Public darshan at Puri Jagannath Temple will remain closed for four hours Wednesday due to the ‘Banakalagi ritual’.
The darshan will remain suspended from 6 pm to 10 pm to facilitate the ritual.
Banakalagi is a traditional temple ritual during which the faces of the deities are decorated and adorned with special colours and materials. As the ceremony is performed as a confidential ritual inside the temple, devotees are not permitted to have darshan during the period.
The temporary restriction will be lifted after the ritual is completed and regular darshan resumes.
