Kataka: Parents of children undergoing treatment at Sardar Vallavbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (SVP PGIP), otherwise known as Sishu Bhawan in Kataka are facing difficulties as saline nasal drops and paracetamol have reportedly been unavailable at the hospital for nearly a week.
As a result, parents are being forced to purchase these essential medicines from outside pharmacies, adding to their financial burden.
According to sources, medicines, including saline nasal drops and paracetamol, are supplied to Sishu Bhawan by the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL).
However, the corporation is reportedly facing a shortage of stock of both medicines, disrupting regular supplies to the hospital.
Hospital authorities have reportedly raised the issue with OSMCL several times, urging the agency to ensure an uninterrupted supply.
Following repeated requests, paracetamol was supplied for a few days, but the supply was subsequently discontinued.
Saline nasal drops have also remained unavailable.
Speaking on the issue, Sishu Bhawan Superintendent Professor Dr Sunil Kumar Agrawal said that if OSMCL failed to ensure the regular availability of these essential medicines soon, the hospital authorities would bring the matter to the attention of the state government.
