Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Sunday distributed appointment letters to 2,067 newly recruited Sevak and Sevika staff and tribal language teachers at the 18th Rozgar Mela held at the Krushi Shiksha Sadan Auditorium on the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) campus in Bhubaneswar.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said empowering the youth through skill development and employment remains a top priority of the state government.
Of the total appointments made at the event, 1,913 candidates were appointed as Sevaks and Sevikas, while 154 were selected as tribal language teachers in school’s functioning under the Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes Development Department.
Majhi said the state government was fulfilling its pre-election promise of filling vacant government posts in a phased manner.
Since the recruitment drive began in June 2024, the government has provided employment to 48,642 candidates through various recruitment initiatives, including the latest Rozgar Mela.
Highlighting the government’s focus on strengthening the education sector, the Chief Minister said 28,693 teachers had been appointed in the state so far.
The Chief Minister said nearly 40 per cent of Odisha’s population belongs to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, making special educational initiatives essential for their development.
In line with the National Education Policy, the state government is emphasising mother-tongue-based education at the primary level.
School education is currently being imparted in 10 tribal languages, including Santali, he said.
