Bhubaneswar: Subrat Das entered the final of the VIIth MIET All Orissa Open Snooker Championships after stunning state champion Nishant Biswal in their semifinal match at the Vintage Club here Monday.
Subrat defeated Nishant Biswal 5(9)3 (44-52, 65-48, 19-84, 71-27, 55-19, 43-56, 84-01, 68-59). It was a see-saw battle till the sixth frame with both players trying to outdo the other. However, the experienced Subrat found an extra gear suddenly to win the seventh and eight frames to close out the match.
Subrat will meet old warhorse Siddharth Sen who also was involved in a nine-frame thriller against Akash Mohapatra before winning 5-4 (62-45, 50-62, 8-53, 19-45, 16-65, 73-62, 53-28, 59-42, 52-33). After falling behind 1-4, Siddharth won the next four frames on the trot displaying nerves of steel.
