Rourkela: Two local women who were sold in Saudi Arabia at Rs 25 lakh managed to reach the city Tuesday.
She worked as a domestic help in the day and was raped in the night, one of the women said narrating her ordeal in her complaint with the police.
Both the women, with the help of a local social activist, lodged a complaint with Raghunathpalli police and the superintendent of police.
The first woman, whose husband works out of the state, said Biswajit Mallik alias Muna of the city lured her with a monthly salary of Rs 50,000 for a job in Dubai December 13, 2016. Later, she was taken to a hotel for a negotiation for the job. To her shock, she was forced to have physical relationship with a man in the hotel and the act was recorded on camera. Biswajit, who was a pimp, threatened her to make the clip viral if she disclosed the incident before anyone.
The woman was again taken to Chennai in April 13 this year where she was raped in a hotel. Later, she was taken to Dubai May 5 where she was made to clean the toilet and engage in other household chores during the day and sleep with men at night. Biswajit has sold her for Rs 15 lakh, a man told her when she objected. After ‘working’ for several months there, she managed to contact an employee of Indian embassy and returned to the country, said the woman in a choking voice.
Similarly, the other woman said Biswajit took her to middle-east promising a monthly salary of Rs30,000. But she was made to work as a maid in a household there. Biswajit had sold her for Rs 10 lakh, quoting the house owner the woman said. She was given electric shock when she refused to work, it was learnt.
The two victims said about 50 Indian women have been kept in captivity at a place in Saudi Arabia and are being sold one by one.
Sources said Biswajit is a broker and sells girls and women in Dubai.
SP Umashankar Dash said the accused has involvement in several such incidents and police registered cases against him. Raids are on to nab the accused, Dash added. PNN
