Puri: Acting tough against loud music causing noise pollution, the district administration has imposed a ban on disc jockey (DJ) music in the city.
Sub-collector Madhusudan Das has written to all police stations across the city to implement the prohibition on loud music. If there is any report of DJ music in any area in the city in violation of the ban, the police personnel of the respective area should seize the gadgets and music system.
“As per the decision taken in the meeting, the ban order have been implemented across the city,” Das said
According to sources, playing of loud music is rampant in the city, which is causing noise pollution. As of now, there is no control on the menace.
In order to control noise pollution, a meeting was convened at the sub-collector’s office November 22 and it was decided to ban loud music around Sri Jagannath temple as well as in the stretch between Subash Bose Square and Acharya Harihar Square.
It was decided in the meeting that no one would be allowed to play DJ music beyond 60 decibels. Besides, the names and phone numbers of the music set owners should be written on the DJ sets.
Now, the administration has imposed a complete ban on DJ music effective from December 22.
