Odagaon: The district administration has sealed three illegal industrial units here in Nayagarh district Thursday.
The units were closed as they were either running after expiry of the licence granted by the State Pollution Control Board or operating without one, reports said.
Shree Ram Food Products at Akhuapadar, Kanak Stone Industries (crusher) at Kadalibandh and Maa Mangala Agro Industries at Rohibanka were sealed after a raid.
The licence of Sree Ram Food Products had expired in March. The other two units were operating illegally without licences.
Earlier, the Regional Pollution Control Board in Berhampur had asked the Collector to seal the units. In his letter dated June 29, 2018, the Collector had directed the tehsildar to raid and seal the three units.
Tehsildar Sudhakar Samantaray, additional tehsildar Dayanidhi Ratha, IIC Anil Kumar Pradhan, CESU (1) junior engineer Subhendra Kumar Swain and CESU (2) junior engineer LKS Reddy raided the units and closed them down. After the units were sealed, CESU officials snapped power supply to them.
The SPCB had directed to seal Himani Stone Crusher owned by one Ishwar Parida in Jamupatna.
Officials reached Jamupatna, but found no crusher unit by that name, and it was learnt that Parida had died some years back.
The officials came across another crusher unit there. During inspection, they found that the crusher did not have a legal electricity connection and had been running by pilfering power. CESU officials snapped the power.
Junior engineer Reddy said action would be taken against the crusher unit’s owner after gathering information about him.
