Rourkela: Muktikanta Biswal, the man who made headlines for walking around 1,550 km to New Delhi to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and remind him of his promise of a super-specialty hospital that the latter had made to the residents of Rourkela during his visit three years back, has now embarked on another Padayatra from Rourkela to Bhubaneswar to meet the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
After failing to meet the PM, Muktikanta hopes to meet the CM and ask for his intervention to upgrade the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a super specialty hospital.
“I will meet the CM and demand for upgradation of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) into a super specialty hospital and request him to take steps for construction of the second bridge over river Brahmani in Rourkela,” Muktikanta said while speaking to media persons.
“I will meet the CM and some BJD leaders to raise various demands. I will also discuss about pending projects in Rourkela,” he added.
It is worth mentioning here that Muktikanta had walked for over 70 days with a flag, covering a total of 1,550km and reached Delhi June 27 to remind the Prime Minister of his promises made to the residents of Rourkela during his visit April 1, 2015.
Although, he fell sick and was admitted to a hospital in Agra, Muktikanta did not lose hope and reached Delhi. However, he failed to meet the PM and staged hunger strike at Ramlila Maidan and later at Jagannath Temple and Hauz Khas.
After repeated failures to meet the Prime Minister, Muktikanta returned to Rourkela to a warm welcome. Now, all eyes are on his meeting with the CM.
