Baripada: Forest department has arrested two poachers using an AI-enabled camera in Odisha’s Similipal National Park, officials said Thursday.
According to officials, the two poachers were arrested separately Wednesday while they were caught on camera roaming in the jungle with guns. They were nabbed in Podadiha Wildlife Range.
The poachers were sent to jail custody after their bail petition was rejected by a local court Wednesday, the forest officials said, adding that they were detected by a secret AI camera deployed inside Similipal.

The authorities of Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) have installed AI cameras at strategic places in the forest to locate movement of animals in the wild and also keep a vigil on the poachers, sources said.
The poachers were located by Similipal Wildlife Intelligence Network (SWIN) staff and were apprehended later on.
The officials seized two guns and some explosives from the possession of the poachers. Further investigation is going on, they said.
