Ailing Odia writer Padma Bhushan Manoj Das shifted to JIPMER

Bhubaneswar: Owing to old age ailments, noted Odia writer and Padma Bhushan recipient Manoj Das was shifted to the Oncology Ward of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Pondicherry Wednesday night.

Das was earlier admitted to a private hospital in Pondicherry, December 4 for treatment.

The department head Dr Biswajit Das and a panel of four doctors have been providing him treatment, sources said.

Das’s health condition is said to be stable now.

Notably, Das was earlier undergoing treatment under the supervision of Dr Ashok Kumar Das. He had developed a fracture on his right hand a few days ago.

The Union Health Ministry has formed a four-member panel of doctors of the JIPMER for his treatment.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had also assured to extend all assistance by the State government for his treatment. A team of senior doctors from Odisha were sent to Pondicherry in this regard.
