New Delhi: Air India, Air India Express and IndiGo Saturday suspended flights to and from the Middle East following escalating tensions after the United States and Israel launched coordinated attacks on Iran.
Air India said it has suspended all flights to all destinations in the Middle East in view of the developing situation in parts of the region.
“In view of the developing situation in parts of the Middle East, all Air India flights to all destinations in the Middle East have been suspended,” the airline said in a statement.
The announcement came as the United States and Israel began “major combat operations” in Iran, significantly intensifying tensions and raising concerns of a widening confrontation with potential geopolitical and economic consequences.
Air India said it remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety for passengers and crew and will continue to assess the safety and security environment for flight operations, adjusting services proactively as required. The airline advised passengers to check flight status online or contact its 24×7 call centre.
Air India Express said that in view of the developing situation in parts of the Gulf region, it has suspended all westbound international flights.
“The safety and security of our guests and crew remain our highest priority,” a spokesperson said, adding that impacted passengers are being notified directly on their registered contact details. Guests were advised to check flight status on the airline’s website and use the “Manage Booking” section for change and cancellation waivers.
IndiGo temporarily suspended flights to and from the Middle East due to evolving airspace restrictions around Iran and the region.
“In view of evolving airspace restrictions around Iran and the Middle East, all flights to and from the Middle East are cancelled till 0000 hrs,” the airline said in a post on X, adding that the suspension is in effect till 0000 hours IST.
According to a source, IndiGo services have been suspended to and from Dubai, Jeddah, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dammam, Bahrain, Sharjah, Kuwait and Ras Al-Khaimah.
The airline said the measures were instituted with passenger and crew safety as the highest priority and that teams are continuously monitoring the situation and recalibrating operations to minimise disruption.
