Jeypore: There was a flutter during a religious ceremony at a temple in Jeypore town after Odia album actress Sweta Mallick appeared before the public sporting her new look Thursday. Sweta is now a self-proclaimed godwoman Mata Maheswari.
Similarly, Samrat Cassette Company’s Biswambar Sabat was also seen at the event and he claimed to be Ananta Keshari Samrat Biswambar Maharaj.
The duo, who once belonged to the glamour world, has now become the talk of the town as they were spotted at the religious event here.
The Biswashanti Kaliki Mahayajna organised by the duo concluded Thursday here. Hundreds of people visited the event and extended their helping hand to the self-proclaimed godwoman. Similarly, businessmen, politicians and contractors also extended financial support to the event.
Some people uploaded a video on social media sites stating that the duo was worshipped at the event as they claimed themselves to be Lord Vishnu and Laxmi.
“Some people were interested in organising the religious event, but they were not granted permission as their intentions were not good,” said Ananta Keshari Samrat Biswambar Maharaj and Mata Maheswari. It is these people who spread the fake information on social media, the two added.
The Mahayajna was conducted with spiritual intent. However, claiming to be Lord Vishnu and Laxmi is an insult to Sanatan Dharma, said Sagar Mishra, a priest of the local Sai temple.
