Bhubaneswar: A 55-year-old Ama Bus driver was arrested Sunday after a motorcyclist died in a collision near KIIT Campus-9 here, police said.
The victim, identified as D Subham Rao, a resident of the city, was riding a Luna moped home at about 8 am when an Ama Bus allegedly struck the two-wheeler from behind near KIIT Campus-9 under the Infocity Police Station limits, according to police.
The impact threw Rao from the vehicle, leaving him critically injured. He was taken to Capital Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Rao’s father, D Rambabu Rao, filed a complaint with the Infocity Police Station, alleging that the bus driver was responsible for the fatal crash.
Police registered a case and launched an investigation. During the investigation, officers arrested the driver, identified as Ribine Digal.
He was booked under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, police said. Authorities also seized the bus involved in the accident.
Digal was produced before a court following his arrest, and further investigation is under way, police said.
