Chhatrapur: A joint team of Aryapalli Marine Police and the Marine Fisheries Department seized a fishing trawler from Andhra Pradesh for allegedly fishing illegally in Odisha’s territorial waters and detained the fishermen aboard the vessel.
According to reports, the trawler was allegedly fishing illegally off the Aryapalli coast when the joint team conducted a raid and seized the vessel. A large quantity of fish caught by the crew was also seized.
Chhatrapur Additional Fisheries Officer Debidatta Mohanty said the seized fish was auctioned in accordance with the prescribed rules. Legal action is being taken in connection with the incident, he said. The trawler remains detained at the Marine Police station.
