Pattamundai: Police Sunday recovered the body of an Anganwadi worker hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances in a bamboo bush near Kadalibana of Neelakanthapur panchayat under this block in Kendrapara district.
The deceased was identified as Sanjukta Behera (45), President of Pattamundai block Anganwadi workers’ association.
While she was found hanging with her dupatta in a nearby bamboo bush, family members suspected foul play and alleged it was a pre-planned murder. They suspected her lover to be behind the heinous crime.
As her knees were seen touching the ground with injury marks over her body and blood oozing from the mouth, locals echoed the family members’ allegation.
Police sent the body for post-mortem and have started an investigation.
