BHUBANESWAR: A six-day national level art camp organised by Odisha Lalit Kala Akademi, OMC and the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department at Panthanivas here concluded Saturday.
Around 25 artists from the state, Maharashtra and UP participated in the camp. They painted 50 paintings on the upcoming World Hockey Cup tournament in Bhubaneswar.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest Sanjeev Chopra, the Chairman of OMC said, “I am truly amazed by the artists who participated in the camp. They have amalgamated culture, art and sports and have represented the upcoming hockey tournament beautifully.”Vineel Krishna, the MD of OMC, also expressed happiness over the art camp. “These magnificent paintings will be displayed at the Kalinga Stadium gallery where both players and officials attending the Men’s Hockey World Cup can see it.”
Secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi Manas Ranjan Jena thanked both OMC and the sports authorities for selecting the Akademi to host the camp along with the Odia Language, Literature and Culture Department.
Lalit Kala Akademi President Sudarshan Patnaik presided over the meeting. “The Odisha Sports Authority has done a truly wonderful job by helping us organise such a magnificent camp where art speaks the language of Hockey on canvas,” he said.
All the 25 participating artists were feted with Angabastra, a cheque of Rs 50,000 and bouquets.
Interacting with Orissa Post eminent sculptor and painter Sanjib Biswal said, “Our art is a medium to inspire the brave hearts who will fight it out in the Kalinga Stadium. Our best wishes to them. Let the best team win.”
