Bhubaneswar: Playback singers Bishnu Mohan Kabi and Pragyan Hota; Odissi dancer Saswat Joshi; actor Kuna Tripathy and musicians Sitaram Nayak and Manoj Dutta are set for a US tour to promote Odia bhajan, Jayadev’s ‘Gita Govinda’ and Odissi dance. They are to take part in the 49th convention of Odisha Society of the Americas (OSA) scheduled from July 5-7.
Kabi said, “It is a time when every Odia needs to contribute to safeguard the Jagannath culture and values of Odisha. It is a small effort from our side to recreate the magic of Odia culture, music and dance on foreign soil.”
Actor Kuna Tripathy, in turn, said, “A few uneducated souls have been trying to tarnish the reputation of Odia culture and its deities. So, we are trying to showcase the world the depth our culture.”
Dancer Saswat Joshi expects the cultural tour to be a grand success — a grand way to showcase the tradition and culture of Jagannath Dham.
