Keonjhar: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Odisha Police was killed in a road accident near Jhumpura bypass on National Highway number – 20 in this district Saturday.
The deceased cop has been identified as Morris Kujur.
According to a source, the incident occurred while Morris was on his way to the police station on his motorcycle. A Bolero SUV hit his bike, throwing him onto the road.
Severely injured, he was rushed to Jhumpura health center where the doctor declared him ‘dead on arrival’.
Police reached the spot after being notified, seized the vehicle and have detained the driver. Further investigation is on.
The news of Morris’s demise has sent a shock wave through the district police department.
