At least three held for plotting dacoity in Bhadrak

Basudevpur: Police arrested three youths Monday night while they were allegedly plotting a dacoity at a playground near Padmapur village under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district.

The arrested were identified as Hamij Raja Quadir, 21, Serkhan Saha, 30, and Shahrukh Saha, 25 — all residents of Mato village under Chandbali police station. Police said they seized three mobile phones, a knife, a bhujali (sharp weapon), a screwdriver, and a rope from their possession. A Bolero (OD 22 V 2675) was also confiscated.

Acting on instructions from Basudevpur police station inspector-in-charge Lopamudra Nayak, sub-inspector Poonam Devi Behera, along with a team, conducted a raid at the playground around 11:30pm.

Five youths had allegedly gathered to plan a robbery when police swooped in. While two managed to escape, three were apprehended and later produced in court. Police also seized two separate number plates from the Bolero.
