Bhadrak: A fisherman drowned while fishing in a jetty near Mandari village in Chudamani here. While the incident occurred Thursday night, the body was fished out Friday morning from a nearby fishing jetty.
The deceased has been identified as Abhiram Mallick, son of Krushna Mallick.
According to the family members of the deceased, Mallick went to the Chudmani fishing jetty along with his friend Upendra Mallick at around 4 pm Thursday.
Accidentally, he slipped into the water while fishing and was swept away into the sea at around 12 midnight.
His family members rushed to the spot and launched a frantic search in the jetty. Later, some fishermen recovered the body after it got stuck into their nets.
Chudamani Marine Police has seized the body for autopsy and a probe was launched.
