Bhubaneswar: A police inspector was arrested here Wednesday for allegedly having sexual relations with a woman sub-inspector by promising to marry her.
Mahila Police arrested Yoshobant Acharya, who is a native of Kandhamal district.
He was arrested on the basis of a case registered at the Mahila police station here Tuesday after the victim lodged a complaint.
According to the police, the accused inspector had allegedly established a physical relationship with the woman police officer on the pretext of marriage, but later married someone else.
Speaking to PTI, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said, “We have arrested the police inspector (armed) and registered a case under Section 69 of BNS (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means) and forwarded him to the court.”
