Wednesday to protest against the alleged lynching of a 17-year-old boy, Junaid. He was killed by a mob when he was on his way home to Ballabhgarh after shopping for Eid in Delhi. The campaign #NotInMyName started with a Facebook post by a filmmaker to condemn the incident. The campaign is aimed at ‘reclaiming the constitution’ and ‘resisting the onslaught’ on the right to life.
The campaign has gone viral over social media. An image designed by graphic artist Orijit Sen— featuring blood-stained slippers, a metal rod and the message “Not In My Name” is trending all over twitter and Facebook. The protests are meant to condemn the alleged atrocities inflicted upon the Muslims and Dalits by vigilante cow protection groups. Meanwhile, Orissa POST interacted with Biswal to know more about the protest plans. “The antisocial things happening in the country is ruining the image of the country. We belong to a country which believes in spreading love, compassion and allows everyone to live accordingly. The whole country is raising its voice against the incidences of lynching in the name of cow protection, so we have decided to be a part of this initiative. It’s a call to raise the conscience of people who believe in equality, human dignity and decency. This is an appeal against the systemic violence being unleashed.
