Hailing from Keonjhar, Rout pursued his education at the Silicon Institute of Technology, Bhubaneswar. Like many young professionals, he followed the conventional path, landing a job at Infosys in Bangalore. It was there, at the age of 21, that he had his first-ever burger—an experience that would unknowingly shape his future.
He noticed a glaring gap in the Indian food industry. While international fast-food chains flourished, there was no Indian brand specialising in gourmet, grilled burgers. This sparked an idea: Why not create a desi alternative that could offer a superior, homegrown burger experience?
From a small kiosk to a national chain
With a modest investment of Rs 20,000, Rout set up a small kiosk near Infosys Bangalore, selling burgers on weekends in 2011. What started as a side hustle soon turned into a full-fledged venture with revenues hitting hundreds of crores.
By 2016, he took the bold step of quitting his IT job to manage Biggies Burger full-time. The brand rapidly gained traction, standing out for its commitment to quality, authenticity, and grilled burgers—a healthier alternative to the fried options dominating the market.
Today, Biggies Burger boasts over 150 outlets across 16 states, making it India’s largest homegrown burger chain.

Rout’s success is not just about great burgers—it’s about a smart business strategy.
- Franchising Model: Biggies Burger follows an aggressive franchise expansion strategy, welcoming investors from diverse backgrounds, including government officials, army veterans, and IT professionals.
- Quality First: Unlike many fast-food brands, Biggies Burger focuses on authentic grilled burgers, ensuring high-quality ingredients and better nutritional value.
- Targeting Tier II & III Cities: While many food brands focus on metros, Biraja is expanding into smaller cities where demand for premium yet affordable fast food is growing. They aim to open 25 new stores every quarter.
Beyond burgers
Not one to stop with just burgers, Rout has also launched Beamer Brands, a parent company managing multiple food and beverage ventures like Biggies Burger and Bigguys Wings & Burgers. This move showcases his long-term vision—to build an ecosystem of diverse food brands catering to different customer segments.
While Biggies Burger continues to expand, Rout is already eyeing the next phase of growth. His ambition is to make Biggies Burger a global brand, taking an Indian-origin burger chain beyond the country’s borders.
